Olathe South baseball rallies past Lawrence

? Olathe South’s baseball team rallied from a 3-0 seventh-inning deficit to upend Lawrence High, 4-3, in a 10-inning contest Tuesday at the Falcons’ field.

The Lions plated three runs in the third.

Brett Urban was hit by a pitch and took second on a sacrifice by Courtney Hutchison. Ryan Engel singled to score Urban. Marc Albers hit a double, then Carl Lisher, who was 2-for-4, smacked a two-run single.

John Parker, who pitched into the seventh inning, allowed three earned runs off nine hits. O-South tied the game with a three-run double with two outs in the seventh.

“We just can’t seem to get over the hump,” LHS coach David Petry said. “We’ve had chances to win, but can’t seem to find a way to get it done. We were up 3-0 entering the bottom of the seventh, but couldn’t finish it out. Our kids are competing hard.

“I thought John Parker pitched a heck of a game,” Petry added. “I thought Brett (McBride) threw pretty well as well. The pitching and defense was good enough to win. We got seven hits in 10 innings. We scored in one of 10 innings. We can’t get the offense, defense and pitching performing together right now.”

The Lions (5-7 overall, 2-4 Sunflower League) will meet SM South at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Ice Field.
