Olathe East sweeps LHS in softball

? Lawrence High’s softball squad faced a tough test in undefeated Olathe East on Tuesday at the Olathe District Activities Center.

The Lions lost — 1-0 in nine innings in the first game and 5-0 in the nightcap — but they competed, which pleased coach Reenie Stogsdill. The first game was especially impressive, as LHS pitcher Whitney Juneau only allowed two hits and had a no-hitter through seven innings.

“We knew going in that this was the top team in the league and probably the state,” Stogsdill said. “For us to hang with them for nine innings and Whitney pitch as well as she did shows we can play with anybody.”

LHS (3-7) travels Thursday to Shawnee Mission West.
