Freeman, Lions thump O-Northwest

Lawrence High’s baseball team snapped a five-game skid by beating Olathe Northwest, 6-2, Friday at Ice Field.

David Freeman allowed one earned run in six innings, striking out three and walking one. Joe Crane, who was 2-for-4, pitched a hitless seventh inning.

Carl Lisher went 3-for-4 with a home run, three RBIs and two runs scored. Tom Bush also had two hits. Brian Heere had a two-run double for LHS (5-5).

“I thought we hit the ball better today than we have,” LHS coach David Petry said. “We got another solid pitching performance from David Freeman. He pitched six strong innings for us. We made two errors in the first inning and gave up an unearned run, and then played solid defensively.”

LHS travels Tuesday to Shawnee Mission North.
