LHS soccer tumbles, 7-2

? Megan Johnson scored a pair of goals, but Shawnee Mission Northwest beat Lawrence High, 7-2, in Sunflower League soccer Thursday at the Shawnee Mission District Complex.

“I think we were fighting some focus issues,” LHS co-coach Matt Makens said. “But the effort was still 100 percent. There are some training issues we as coaches need to work on, but the effort by all the players was 100 percent again. And Shawnee Mission Northwest is a very strong team, a typical Shawnee Mission team. We’re in a very tough league, and we are trying to fight for confidence.”

The Lions (1-5) will travel today to Topeka to face Washburn Rural.
