G. Baley Price, a former professor of mathematics, was presented framed remarks made by U.S. Rep. Dennis Moore in the Congressional Record. Price is pictured with his wife, Cora Lee Beers Price, and, at left, KU Spencer Research librarian William Crowe.

Price was called away from his KU teaching duties in 1943 to serve with the U.S. Army’s 8th Air Force Operational Research Section in England. His duties included improving the accuracy of bomber pilots and anti-artillery interception over Britain.

“Professor Price used his brilliance to bring about technological advances that helped make possible this nation’s victory during World War II,” Moore said in a statement.

A $1 million endowed professorship honoring Price also is in the works at the KU Endowment Association. John Scarffe, an Endowment Association spokesman, said he couldn’t release details of the professorship or its donor.
