Judge denies ticket holder request

Douglas County District Court Judge Jack A. Murphy on Wednesday denied an attempt by a group of Kansas University men’s basketball season ticket holder to block plans to force them to put up $5,000 to hold on to the prime seats in Allen Fieldhouse.

The group, led by Topeka attorney Brock Snyder, had asked Murphy to delay implementation of the plan to give them time to prepare and present legal arguments against.

Murphy denied the request, noting there was little chance their legal arguments would prevail in court.

The plan applied only to those season ticket holders who were not Williams Fund members or who have fallen behind in their annual contributions to the fund. Those affected will not lose their season tickets but will be assigned less-desirable seats.
