Chain-reaction accident ties up early morning traffic
A chain-reaction series of rear-end accidents tied up rush hour traffic Friday morning on Sixth Street just west of Tennessee Street near Lawrence’s downtown.
At least five westbound vehicles apparently slid into each other about 8 a.m. Lawrence Police and Lawrence-Douglas County Fire and Medical personnel were called to the scene. However, there were no injuries, according to Lawrence Police Sgt. Mike Pattrick.
Lack of attention on the part of some of the drivers involved was blamed the pile-up, Pattrick said.
Two drivers were cited for careless driving but no other info readily available as to who they were, he said.
