KU students, grads to get National Science Foundation fellowships

Seven Kansas University students and graduates will receive National Science Foundation fellowships, the university announced Monday.

NSF announced 900 fellows for the 2003-2004 year. The fellowships are worth up to $114,000 for three years of graduate study.

Winners are Sarah Heimovics, a 2000 KU graduate from Fairway; Christina Vizcarra, a 2002 graduate from Leawood; Katie Mitchell-Koch, a senior from Wichita; Ian Tice, a senior from Tecumseh; Irene Karel, a doctoral student from Wilmington, Del.; Megan Sumpter, a 1999 graduate from Madisonville, La.; and Ryan Kinser, a senior from Oklahoma City.
