LHS Player of the week: Chris Fulton

Class: Senior

HT: 6-1 WT:180

Position: Running back

The game: All the mud and the muck at Haskell Stadium didn’t slow down Fulton during the Lions’ 42-26 win against Free State High last Friday night. An all-state sprinter, Fulton used his speed to break off touchdown runs of 61, 70, 38 and 2 yards on his way to 232 rushing yards on 18 carries. Sometime during his third score, he passed the 1,000-yard mark, joining teammate Brandon McAnderson in that category this season. It is the first LHS backfield to ever have two 1,000 yard rushers.

Comment: “Chris has come a long way since his sophomore year,” LHS coach Dirk Wedd said. “He doesn’t have real good instincts, but he’s learning as he goes.”

“The pads don’t slow him down, either, which is a bit unusual for kid his size.”
