Sentencing delayed for Baldwin man

Sentencing was delayed Friday in Douglas County District Court for a former Baldwin man convicted last month in a shooting incident.

Stephen Meeker, 34, will return to court at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 22. A motion to depart from sentencing guidelines was filed Thursday by his attorney, Jim Rumsey. Asst. Douglas County Dist. Atty. Dan Dunbar asked Judge Jack Murphy for time to prepare a response to the motion.

Meeker is to be sentenced for aggravated battery, attempted aggravated battery and aggravated assault. State sentencing guidelines call for a presumptive prison sentence of 41 months on the aggravated battery charge alone.
