The future bride is the daughter of Maria Butler, Lawrence. She is a 2001 graduate of Lawrence High School, attended Baker University, and is employed at Farmers Insurance in Olathe.
The future groom is the son of Jan Hamilton, Topeka, and JoAn Lindfors, Marquette. He is a 2000 graduate of Washburn Rural High School, a 2004 graduate of Baker University, and is also employed at Farmers Insurance in Olathe.
The couple plan an April 14, 2012, wedding in Kansas City, Kan.
Oberzan and Glover
Joseph Oberzan and Teri Hatfield, both of Lawrence, along with Clarence and Lynda Glover, Vernon, Ala., announce the engagement of their children, Meghan Elizabeth Oberzan, Kansas City, Mo., and Gregory Joe Glover, Lawrence.
The future bride is a 1998 graduate of Lawrence High School. She earned bachelor’s degrees in psychology and English literature, and a master’s degree in social work, all from Kansas University. She is a clinical social worker in the Genetics Section of Children’s Mercy Hospital, Kansas City, Mo.
The future groom is a 1996 graduate of Sulligent High School, Sulligent, Ala. He is a sales representative at Knology in Lawrence.
The couple plan a May 4, 2012, wedding at Corpus Christi Catholic Church in Lawrence.
Betzen and Limes
Stephen and Terry Betzen, Lawrence, announce the engagement of their daughter, Elisabeth Betzen, to Joel Limes, both of Columbus, Ohio.
The future bride is a graduate of Lawrence High School and Cleveland Institute of Art, Cleveland, Ohio. She is a senior designer with WD Partners, Columbus.
The future groom is the son of Rick and Ruthie Limes, Columbus. He is a graduate of Westland High School, a graduate of Columbus College of Art and Design, and is a creative director for WD Partners, all of Columbus.
The couple plan a March 9, 2012, wedding in Middleton Place Historic Plantation, Charleston, S.C.
Lysen and Hosek
Rebecca Lysen and Justin Hosek, both of Lawrence, were married Oct. 1, 2011, in Lawrence, with Ben Bullington officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Rick and Vicki Lysen, Lawrence.
The groom is the son of Dave and Darla Hosek, Lawrence, and Laurie VanderPol, Lenexa.
Maid of honor was Emily Lysen. Best man was Collin Hosek. Bridesmaids were Anja Winikka, Molly Hosek and Rochelle Whitchelo. Groomsmen were Barrett Hamilton, Ethan McDonald and TK Peterson. Ushers were Paul Whittemore and Christopher Santee. Storytellers were Tanner Walle and Jake Imber. Ceremony musicians were Tim Bradley, George Brahler, Tanner Walle and Danielle Parente.
A reception was given at Carnegie Library with performances by the Free State Marching Band, the Sunflower Colonels, Country Mice, Mo Juiced, Tanner Walle and Danielle Parente.
The bride is a 2000 graduate of Free State High School. She earned a bachelor’s degree in graphic design from Drake University in 2004 and is a creative director at MADA Design, New York City.
The groom is also a 2000 graduate of Free State and attended Kansas University. He studied jazz bass performance at the New School in New York City and is a professional bass guitarist and a sound engineer in New York City.
The couple reside in Brooklyn, N.Y.
Dwayne and Ruby Peaslee, Perry, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner on Friday.
They were married Dec. 22, 1951, at Danforth Chapel at Kansas University, while Dwayne was attending KU.
Dwayne and Ruby graduated from Liberty Memorial High School. They have lived the last 37 years in Jefferson County.
The couple have a daughter, Valerie Earhart and husband Darrin, Springfield, Mo., and a son, Kyle, Milwaukee, Wis.
