Nathaniel Philip Harper and Rachel Marie Ybarra

Francisco and Jennifer Ybarra announce the engagement of their daughter, Rachel Marie Ybarra, to Nathaniel Philip Harper, all of Lawrence. The groom is the son of Guy Harper, St. Paul, Minn., and Gigi Woodard, Lawrence.
The future bride graduated from Lawrence High School in 2003 and attends Kansas University. She is employed at The Toy Store in downtown Lawrence.
The future groom graduated from Free State High School in 2002 and attends Johnson County Community College.
The couple plan an Aug. 8, 2008, wedding at Liberty Hall in Lawrence.

Ochs

Norma and Lorenz Ochs

Lorenz and Norma Ochs, Lawrence, celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary with a family dinner Nov. 23 at SpringHill Suites by Marriott in Lawrence.
Lorenz Ochs and Norma Ackerman were married Dec. 7, 1947, in Eureka.
Lorenz worked for Centel Electric in Great Bend for 35 years.
Norma was a registered nurse at the St. Francis Hospital School of Nursing in Wichita. They are retired.
Their children are Mitchell Ochs, Great Bend; Stephan Ochs, McLean, Va.; and Jeanette Ochs, Lawrence. They have four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rachel and Drew Ecklund

Rachel Hammer and Drew Ecklund were married June 16, 2007, at Mountain Life Church in McCall, Idaho. The officiant was the groom's father, the Rev. Jeff Ecklund, of Oldtown, Idaho.
The bride is the daughter of Gary and Julie Hammer, Lawrence. The groom is also the son of Robie Ecklund, Oldtown.
Matron of honor was Heather Zitterkopf. Best man was Steven Frazier. Bridesmaids were Lauren Mayhew, Jacque Meyer, Sarah Meyer, Lindsey Queen and Larissa Meyer. Groomsmen were Joel Ecklund, Shaun Thomas, Davin Zitterkopf, Eric Dyrud and Nathan Hammer.
Candlelighter was Amanda Mayhew. Flower girl was Katelyn Hammer. The Rev. Rob Meyer led the couple in communion, and the Rev. Larry Terherst led the prayer for the couple. Guest book attendant was Amber Good. Gift table attendant was Robyn Tompson. Vocalists were Amanda, Lauren, Melissa and Caroline Mayhew.
A reception was given at Northfork Lodge in McCall.
Rachel was a home-school graduate in 2003. She attended a Discipleship Training School at Youth With a Mission in Kona, Hawaii, in 2004. She is employed as a preschool teacher at Mountain Life Church Preschool in McCall, and is self-employed as a piano teacher.
Drew graduated from Okanogan High School in Okanogan, Wash., in 2001 and attended Portland Bible College. He is employed as a carpenter with Rocky Mountain CTR in McCall.
The couple reside in McCall.

Michelle Ann Scheffler and Billy Leroy Lown were married June 30, 2007, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Newton.
The bride is the daughter of Mark and Janet Scheffler, Newton. The groom is the son of Bill and Michelle Lown, Lawrence.
Maid of honor was Lourdes Snapp. Best man was David Arndt. Bridesmaids were Tiffany Jackson and Hayley Dutton. Groomsmen were John Maynard and Cody Lown.
A reception was given at the American Legion in Newton.
Michelle graduated from Newton High School and Kansas University. She is a physical education teacher at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Overland Park.
Billy graduated from Free State High School and is attending Johnson County Community College. He is employed by Nills Brothers Sporting Goods in Overland Park.
The couple reside in Overland Park.

The bride is the daughter of John and Charleen Helgesen, Battle Lake, Minn. The groom is the son of Dennis and Judy Kraemer, Harrisonville, Mo.
Matron of honor was Karla Dalton. Best man was Todd Nicholson. Bridesmaids were Jennifer Stone, Gretchen Tutt and Melissa Hallenbeck. Groomsmen were Kevin Stone, Jeff Hanton and Kevin Stone Jr.

Kristin graduated from Lawrence High School and Kansas University. She is employed by Countrywide Tax Services Corp.
Jeremy graduated from Raymore-Peculiar High School and Central Missouri State University. He is employed by General Atomics Aeronautical Systems Inc.

The bride is the daughter of Larry and DJ Burns, Tonganoxie. The groom is the son of Vern and Carma Lister, Eudora.
Maid of honor was Amanda Rupp. Best man was Casey Williams. Bridesmaids were Carrie Lister, Meghan Powell, Jessica Karten and Kelly Lorenzo. Groomsmen were Brad Gilges, Dean Heise, Jay Powell and Randy Whitesell.

The bride is a 2000 graduate of Tonganoxie High School. She attended Johnson County Community College and is employed as an office manager at Eudora Animal Hospital.
The groom is a 1998 graduate of Eudora High School. He is a carpenter at Kansas University.

Christopher graduated from Shawnee Mission South High School in 2000. He received a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from KU in 2005. He is employed as an engineer at Kennedy/Jenks Consultants in Mission.

Ryan graduated from Dodge City Senior High School in 1989 and attended The Art Institute of Dallas. He is employed at KU.
