Nancy and Don Jones, Lawrence, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a private family dinner on Sunday.
They were married Sept. 8, 1946, in Lawrence.
Nancy and Don are Lawrence High School graduates.
Nancy retired in 1986 after working for the Lawrence Journal-World for 20 years.
Don retired from the Douglas County Health Department in 1987 after 15 years.
They have two children Lurlyne Smith, Kansas City, Mo., and Melvin Jones, Stilwell, five grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
Bob and Jane Hopkins, La Quinta, Calif., formerly of Lawrence, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary by touring Eastern Europe in August. They also had a three-day celebration in August with friends from 12 states.
They were married Aug. 19, 1956, in Russell. They are graduates of Russell High School.
Jane earned degrees from Kansas University and Arizona State University.
Bob attended KU and earned degrees from Arizona State. He completed graduate studies at Indiana University. Bob is a former Volkswagen dealer and is involved in the ownership of two retail centers in Lawrence.
Griffith and Kennedy
Jessica Caye Kennedy and Adam Andrew Griffith were married Aug. 5, 2006, at the South Park Gazebo in Lawrence with Dharma Master Judy Roitman officiating.
The bride is the daughter of Mary Anne and Wilton Cherry, Dover, Tenn., and Carl Kennedy, Miltonvale. The groom is the son of Patricia Griffith, Iola.
Maid of honor was Laura Trickle. Best man was Clint Griffith. Bridesmaids were Allyson Bedford and Tara Wittry. Groomsmen were Blake Griffith and Nathan Lennox.

A reception was given in the Crystal Ballroom at the Eldridge Hotel.
The bride is a graduate of Stewart County High School in Dover, Tenn., and Kansas University. She is pursuing certification in therapeutic massage at Johnson County Community College. She is employed at Insight Photography in Lawrence.
The groom is a graduate of Salina South High School. He is employed at Stanion Wholesale in Lawrence.
The couple reside in Lawrence.
Bob and Norma Jean Nixon, Bullhead City, Ariz., formerly of Lawrence, will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family dinner today.
They were married Sept. 9, 1956, at the First Methodist Church in Lawrence with the Rev. Jim Nabors officiating.
Bob worked for the Lawrence fire department for 13 years. He also was a dealer of Wausau Homes for many years. In December 2003, he retired from Steve Eudaly Construction.
Norma was a member of Lawrence Womens Bowling Assn. for many years. She retired in 2002 after working in the business office at Lawrence Memorial Hospital for 23 years.
The moved to Bullhead City in January 2003 after living all of their married life in Lawrence.
Their son Tim Nixon and his wife, Amy, live in South Jordan, Utah. They also have a grandson.
Richard and Alta Walter, Lecompton, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a trip to Roaring River, Mo., in October with their family.
Richard Walter and Alta Kampschroeder were married Sept. 14, 1946, at St. Theresa's Church in Perry.
They are retired mail carriers. Their children are Rosalee Neibarger, Michael Walter and Brian Walter, all of Lawrence; Marlene Swaggerty, Perry; Jacqueline Gieseke, Overland Park; Monica Davidson, Ottawa; and Timothy Walter, Arlington, Texas. They also have nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Robert Lee and Winifred Turner, Tonganoxie, will celebrate their 60th wedding anniversary with a family celebration Sunday at their home.
They were married Sept. 7, 1946, in McLouth.
Robert worked in the job service division of the Kansas State Employment Service in Lawrence for 29 years, retiring in 1989. Winifred was a librarian at the Tonganoxie Public Library for 26 years. She retired in 1995.
Their children are Karen and John Pence, Manhattan; and Sandy Turner and Robert D. Turner, both of Topeka.

They were married Aug. 25, 1946, in Downs. Their children are Linda and Rick Allaire, Dallas; Pamela and Dennis Scoville, Salina; Gregory and Sarah Albert, Lawrence; Christopher and Diane Albert, Topeka; Denise and Tommy Johnson, Lawrence; and Kevin Albert, Shawnee.
They also have 10 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.
