One arrested after suspects wielding knife, bat reportedly attack man on front porch

A Lawrence man was arrested Tuesday night after allegedly attacking another man on his front porch, then returning to the same area again in a matter of hours and causing more problems.

The incidents happened in the 1500 block of West 22nd Terrace. Lawrence police Sgt. Amy Rhoads said in an email that officers first responded shortly after 6 p.m., when the victim said two suspects he knew attacked him on his front porch.

One suspect reportedly had a knife, the other a baseball bat, the victim reported. Rhoads said the victim suffered minor injuries and declined medical attention.

Police didn’t find the suspects at that time, Rhoads said. But about two hours later, officers responded to the area again when one of the suspects allegedly returned and damaged property.

Rhoads said he left the scene on a bicycle, was located shortly after by officers and was taken to jail.

According to corresponding jail records, Allen S. Templeton, 24, of Lawrence, was booked on suspicion of aggravated battery, criminal damage to property and trespassing.
