KU signs Santa Clara transfer Parker Braun, older brother to Christian Braun

Santa Clara transfer Parker Braun is the newest scholarship addition to the Kansas men’s basketball team, Braun’s mother confirmed on Tuesday afternoon.

Braun is the older brother to former Jayhawk Christian Braun, who currently plays professionally with the Denver Nuggets. Braun will have one year of eligibility when he arrives in Lawrence.

Spending last season at Santa Clara, Braun averaged 7.7 points, 5.8 rebounds and two assists per game before throwing his name in the portal as a graduate transfer last month. Braun and the Broncos finished 23-10 (11-5, 3rd in WCC) with a first-round loss to Sam Houston at the NIT Tournament in Santa Clara’s latest campaign.

The 6-foot-10 forward began his career at Missouri, playing 44 total games through two seasons with the Tigers where Braun shot 66% from the field averaging just 2.0 points per game. He started all but one of 66 games at Santa Clara over the next two years, averaging 7.3 points per game, before seeking out Bill Self and the Jayhawks.

Leading Blue Valley Northwest to a state title in 2018, Braun welcomed interest from Missouri, LSU, Arizona, Illinois and Virginia Tech as a three-star prospect. He’ll join Michigan transfer Hunter Dickinson, returning junior KJ Adams Jr. and incoming freshman Marcus Adams Jr. on the block.

The addition of Braun leaves KU with just two scholarships remaining.
