Letter to the editor: Trump’s ‘war’ distraction

To the editor:

Trump issued an edict several days ago: The Department of Defense is now the Department of War. He said “it sounds better.”

Two days later he threatened people in Chicago that he would send National Guard troops to their city, and said “that’s why its called the Department of War.”

Trump was a draft dodger during the Vietnam War, he scoffed at the graves of American soldiers in cemeteries in France, saying they were “losers.” Now he likes the sound of “war.”

Apparently he likes to threaten Americans. He’s betting that “war” will distract attention from the rising cost of living, loss of jobs, financial corruption, opening national parks to logging and extraction, and his friendship with Jeffrey Epstein.
