To the editor:

Several weeks ago, an announcement was made in the Journal-World regarding the sale of Merchants Pub and Plate by owners Thomas (TK) and Emily Peterson. We want to extend our deep gratitude for their stewardship of that historic building, for the delicious food they served for over a decade, but mostly for the innumerable times they supported Lawrence nonprofit agencies with their time and skill. For 11 years, they have catered events at nonprofits and offered dinners for auction, to the huge benefit of these agencies. The paper notes they will be taking a well-deserved break. But we all owe them a debt of gratitude for their contributions to the well-being of Lawrence.
