Letter to the editor: ‘Single-use’ is not accurate

To the editor:

I think the term “single-use plastic bags” is a misnomer. I probably speak for many of us when I say that the plastic bags I bring home from the grocery store full of groceries get used for many other purposes: lining bathroom trash cans, doggie bags on walks, donating to my local food pantry, holding the produce from my garden that I give to friends and family, cleaning out the kitty litter box, etc. It seems like I’ll be buying plastic bags for some of those same jobs I used the store plastic bags to accomplish. And, like many others, I recycled any plastic bags I didn’t reuse. I’m not seeing the benefit in the “single-use” plastic bag ban.
