To the editor:

Our 2nd District U.S. congressman, Jake LaTurner, issued a press release over the weekend that our district’s rural communities will be the beneficiary of $36 million ($13,682,000 in grants and $25,761,000 in loans) from the United States Department of Agriculture to address infrastructure needs. LaTurner stated, “These grants from the USDA will help our rural communities expand access to high-speed broadband, improve our drinking water, and build on our infrastructure. I will continue to be a strong advocate for investment in rural communities across Kansas as we work to grow our local economies and strengthen our critical infrastructure.”

It must be noted this development is an outcome of the recently passed Biden infrastructure bill. LaTurner voted against this bill and yet tries to receive credit where none is due. We must hold our elected officials accountable and not let them control the narrative.
