Letter to the editor: Terrible rivalry messages

To the editor:

I am a KU grad, a longtime resident of Lawrence, and I grew up in Missouri.

Before the KU/MU game earlier this month, I had occasion to drive on Kentucky Street and Tennessee Street, mostly between 11th and 17th. I was horrified and disgusted to see that most every house had a sheet hanging from the front porch with the most vile, vulgar and hateful slogans regarding the upcoming game.

I am ashamed and embarrassed for our city and university. This is not the impression of us that we want to project, regardless of what events preceded this rivalry.
