Crews extinguished an apartment fire in one of the two buildings at Pinnacle Woods Apartments on Monday afternoon, and nobody was injured, first responders told the Journal-World.

Lawrence-Douglas County Fire Medical responded to the fire just after 1:30 p.m. on Monday, and crews were on the scene for more than two hours. James Barkley, a captain with LDCFM, told the Journal-World that there was a small fire in one ground-floor apartment unit, and no other units were affected.

A small vertical section of a wall next to a window was compromised by the fire, and burn damage was visible along wooden framing of the wall as well as the interior of the building. First responders also removed pieces of the wall to better access the unit.

Barkley said the cause of the fire is still unknown at this time and is currently under investigation. The Journal-World has reached out to LDCFM for more information.
