Charges have been dismissed against a Lawrence man accused of kidnapping and threatening a woman with a machete.
The man, Daniel Louis Schuckman, 48, was charged with one count each of kidnapping, aggravated intimidation of a witness, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, interference with law enforcement and criminal threat, all felonies, and one count each of criminal deprivation of property and domestic battery, both misdemeanors, as the Journal-World reported.
The charges relate to an incident on Feb. 2. Schuckman was arrested after an hourlong standoff with Douglas County sheriff’s deputies.
Schuckman was released the next day on a $50,000 own-recognizance bond, meaning he was not required to pay any money to be released. Upon his release, he was scheduled to appear for a status conference on March 25.
However, before any hearings could be set in the case, the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office moved to dismiss the charges on March 7.
The motion to dismiss said the reason for dismissal was “at the request of the complaining witness.”
