Driver suffers minor injuries after semi-trailer rolls on highway, blocking traffic for several hours

A semi-trailer rolled over Monday, May 6, 2024, on Kansas Highway 10 at the Lecompton interchange, blocking traffic for several hours.

The driver of a semi-trailer that rolled over Monday suffered only minor injuries while the crash blocked traffic for several hours.

The crash occurred around 4:40 p.m. on Kansas Highway 10 at the Lecompton interchange near the intersection of K-10 and Interstate 70, according to the crash report from the Kansas Highway Patrol. The semi had turned south onto K-10 and overturned, blocking all lanes of traffic, according to the report.

The driver, Yedi Gebremichael, 48, of Olathe, suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital in Topeka.

After the crash all northbound K-10 traffic was diverted onto Sixth Street, and the highway reopened around 7:25 p.m., according to George Diepenbrock, the spokesperson for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.
