A man was arrested over the weekend for allegedly trying to attack a bar bouncer with a knife at an adult entertainment venue in North Lawrence.

The incident occurred Friday night at the Flamingo Club, 140 N. Ninth St. Bouncers there told sheriff’s deputies that a man, later identified as Diego Bannister, 32, was being aggressive near the club’s bar. George Diepenbrock, a spokesman for the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, did not detail the alleged aggression, but said that as bouncers were walking Bannister out Bannister reportedly pulled out a pocket knife and charged at one of the bouncers before being stopped by another bouncer. The bouncers were able to get the knife away, and Bannister was arrested on suspicion of aggravated assault, use of a deadly weapon.
