Contractor working in bucket near power line electrocuted

A contractor was electrocuted Wednesday afternoon while working near a power line in Douglas County, according to the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office.

The incident happened shortly after 1 p.m. in the 1400 block of East 920 Road as the contractor was working in a bucket near a power line. A co-worker at 1:13 p.m. heard a loud pop noise and found the man unresponsive, said George Diepenbrock, a spokesman with the sheriff’s office.

Deputies were the first on the scene and started to administer CPR and use an automated external defibrillator as well as other life-saving measures until medics arrived. The man was taken by ambulance to an area hospital, Diepenbrock said.
