A Lawrence school bus was in an accident with a car Friday, April 5, 2024, on its way to pick up students at West Middle School.

A Lawrence school bus got into an accident with a car Friday afternoon on its way to pick up West Middle School students.

The accident occurred near Bob Billings Parkway and Crestline Drive.

According to school district spokeswoman Julie Boyle, no students were on the bus at the time — only the driver and the driver’s child.

The bus operator, First Student, dispatched another bus to run the West afternoon bus route for the district, Boyle said. She said she had received no other information about the accident.
