The National Weather Service reports that 2.5 inches of snow fell overnight Tuesday into Wednesday morning in Lawrence, though temperatures in the mid-30s had diminished that amount by midmorning.
Weather over the next few days is expected to be calm, with highs in the low 30s and increasing to the mid-40s by Friday, said meteorologist Matt Flanagan with the NWS in Topeka. He said that on Saturday night a strong cold front would move into the Lawrence area, sending temperatures back into the mid-teens with a slight chance of precipitation.

Highs going into next week on Sunday and Monday will be in the low 20s, Flanagan said.
As of midmorning Wednesday, the Lawrence Police Department has reported one accident since snow began falling Tuesday night, but it is not believed to be a weather-related crash, Sgt. Drew Fennelly said. No injuries were reported.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office worked 10 motorist assist calls overnight that were mostly vehicles that had slid off the road, said spokesperson George Diepenbrock. No injuries were reported.
