The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office asked for the public’s assistance this week in locating a man wanted in connection with an armed robbery.

The man, Markcus Trey Sanders, 29, of Kansas City, Kansas, is wanted in connection with an incident on June 30, 2022. He is charged in Douglas County District Court with one count of aggravated battery and one count of aggravated robbery, both felonies, according to charging documents.

As the Journal-World reported, Sanders and his co-defendant, Chester Wendell Brockman, 51, of Lawrence, are alleged to have robbed a woman at gunpoint for money and other items around 3 p.m. in the 3000 block of Bainbridge Circle while she was at home with her 2-year-old child.

Brockman, who is facing identical charges, is currently in custody on a $100,000 bond and is scheduled to go to trial on the charges in January, according to court records.

The Sheriff’s Office has asked anyone with information about Sanders’ whereabouts to contact the office at 785-841-0007 or to call Crime Stoppers at 785-843-8477.
