A man has been ordered to stand trial for rape in connection with a 2019 incident in Douglas County.

The man, Antonio D. Dukes, 25, had a preliminary hearing on Tuesday, after which Judge Kay Huff determined there was enough evidence to bind him over for trial, according to court documents.

Charges were first filed on June 14, 2021, and Dukes was later arrested on a warrant on Aug. 10. At the time of his arrest, he was living on West 24th Avenue in Lawrence. He was out of jail on a $50,000 bond the same day as his arrest, according to the Douglas County Jail booking log.

The charges stem from an incident that occurred on Dec. 1, 2019, when he allegedly engaged in sexual intercourse without consent with a 19-year-old victim.

The court set a jury trial date for Oct. 17.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office declined to release Dukes’ booking photo.
