Traffic passes through KTA toll booth at the Lecompton interchange on I-70 Wednesday, Dec., 2, 2015.
An eastbound lane will be closed Wednesday morning on Interstate 70 east of Lawrence after a semitrailer rollover crash stopped traffic for several hours on Tuesday.
The left lane of eastbound I-70 at mile marker 207.8 will be closed for barrier replacement until 1 p.m., according to the Kansas Turnpike Authority.
Around 2:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Kelly Edward Noss, 61, of Dougherty, Iowa, was driving a Peterbilt semitrailer eastbound on I-70 near mile marker 207 in Leavenworth County, when his truck left the roadway on the south side of the road, then reentered the roadway and overturned. The truck then hit the inside barrier wall and came to rest across the roadway, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol crash log.
The truck was carrying flour at the time of the crash. Traffic was diverted at exits 202 and 204. Both east and westbound interstate traffic was impacted until around 4:45 p.m., and crews continued working to clear the eastbound lanes until 8:30 p.m., according to the KTA.
The cause of the accident is still under investigation, said Lt. David Hundley with the Kansas Highway Patrol.
Noss was transported to KU hospital with a suspected serious injury. Noss was wearing a safety belt.
