A Lawrence man is facing charges of burglary and theft in connection with three incidents throughout the city, including one in which he allegedly entered Liberty Hall and stole sound equipment and another that reportedly took place at LMH Health’s West Campus.

In June and July, 34-year-old Dennis Martin Miller was formally charged in Douglas County District Court in three cases that span more than a year, according to court documents. In all three, he’s accused of entering a building and stealing money or items inside.

According to charging documents, the first of the alleged incidents took place at the LMH Health West Campus, 6265 Rock Chalk Drive, on March 27, 2021. In that incident, Miller is accused of entering the building and stealing money and an iPad. In the second case, he’s accused of entering an apartment in the 200 block of North Michigan Street on April 13, 2022, while there were other people inside, and taking money, a credit card and a multi-tool, according to the charging documents.

The most recent of the cases involves an incident at Liberty Hall, 644 Massachusetts St., on May 28, when Miller allegedly entered the theater and performance venue without permission and took sound equipment and other items, according to the charging documents.

In all, Miller is charged with four felonies: two counts of burglary, one count of aggravated burglary and one count of felony theft. He’s also charged with three misdemeanor theft counts.

Miller was arrested on June 2 in connection with the incident at Liberty Hall, and charges for the other two incidents were filed while he was in the Douglas County Jail, according to court records. His bond was set at $3,000 in the Liberty Hall case and $10,000 in the other two cases.

Miller has had multiple criminal convictions in Douglas County. He was convicted of interfering with a law enforcement officer in 2017, domestic battery in 2018, and violation of a protection order and possession of methamphetamine in 2019. He was on probation at the time of the alleged burglary and theft incidents, according to court records.

It wasn’t clear on Tuesday when Miller would next appear in court. He had not posted bond as of Tuesday afternoon.
