A woman is now being charged along with two men in connection with a kidnapping and assault that allegedly happened in November.
Stephanie A. Wiggins, 37, of Shawnee, allegedly held the victim against his will to terrorize or hurt him, and threatened him with a switchblade knife, according to a complaint filed in Douglas County District Court. She is charged with kidnapping, aggravated assault and criminal threat, all felonies, plus misdemeanor battery.
Wiggins was arrested in Johnson County and booked Monday into the Douglas County Jail on $75,000 bond, according to jail records.
She was scheduled to make her first appearance in court Tuesday afternoon, according to the Douglas County District Attorney’s Office.
The incident happened on Nov. 4, 2018, according to charges against Wiggins and co-defendants Sean P. McCawley, 42, and Jason V. Spaniol, 41, both of Lawrence. McCawley and Spaniol were arrested on the charges and made their first appearances in court last week.
McCawley is charged with two felony counts of kidnapping and one felony count of criminal threat, plus one misdemeanor count of criminal deprivation of property.
Spaniol is charged with kidnapping, criminal threat and aggravated assault, all felonies. Specifically, charges allege that Spaniol threatened the victim with a hammer and a butane torch.
The Journal-World requested the defendants’ mugshots from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Monday but did not immediately receive a response as to whether they would be released.
