A Lawrence woman groped, exposed her body to and engaged in sexualized conversation with two teens, the teens said when interviewed by police.

When police subsequently interviewed that woman, she said some groping was accidental while she was “wrestling” with the children but denied their other accusations.

The interviews are outlined in an affidavit prepared by Lawrence police for the arrest of Alisia A. Cheek, 29. The Journal-World requested and recently received the document from Douglas County District Court.

Cheek, who was arrested in late July, is charged with aggravated indecent liberties with a child who was 13 and indecent liberties with a child who was 14, according to the complaint against her. Both counts are felonies.

She remains jailed on $100,000 bond, according to jail and court records. Her preliminary hearing is scheduled for Sept. 13.

According to the affidavit:

Police began investigating in January of this year, following a report to the Kansas Department for Children and Families regarding inappropriate touching.

When questioned by police, one of the teens said Cheek groped him while they were wrestling and on another occasion, which made him feel uncomfortable. He said she had been “flirty” with him, tried to sit on his lap, once came into a room he was in wearing only underpants, and once had propositioned him for sex and asked him to show his genitals.

The other alleged victim told police that Cheek had groped her crotch, also during wrestling, and on another occasion groped her breast. She said Cheek had exposed herself to her and propositioned her for sexual activity, suggesting she might be a lesbian and that they could “just give it a shot.”

Both children told police that the inappropriate actions happened when Cheek was drunk.

Cheek, who agreed to speak with police on two occasions, said the groping of the boy during wrestling was not intentional or sexual. She told police none of the other inappropriate things described ever happened.

When confronted with the allegations and asked whether she was sexually attracted to children, she told police, “hell no.”

“Alisia stated she couldn’t confess to something she didn’t do,” the affidavit said. “…Alisia stated she would never say the inappropriate things she is being accused of to a child.”

Cheek did admit to being an “alcoholic,” said she has blacked out from drinking before, and said she would accept help with alcohol treatment, according to the affidavit.

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office denied the Journal-World’s request for Cheek’s jail booking photo. Cheek’s appointed attorney, Michael Clarke, declined to comment on the pending case for this story.

In a letter to the court following her arrest, Cheek asked to be allowed to leave jail on supervised release so she could maintain her job as a nurse caring for a disabled person. She called the case a “mix up” that she thought had already been straightened out.
