Female KU student found dead at Lewis Hall; foul play not suspected

A female student at the University of Kansas was found dead in her dorm room Sunday night, but foul play is not suspected, according to KU police.

At 5:42 p.m. Sunday, KU Public Safety officers responded to Lewis Residence Hall, 1530 Engel Road, in regard to a medical emergency. When officers arrived, they discovered a female student deceased in her room, according to a news release Monday from KU police.

The cause of death is under investigation, and foul play is not suspected. KU poloce said they would not be releasing the student’s name out of respect for the family.

The news release noted that any student who is troubled by this event is encouraged to contact Counseling and Psychological Services, 785-864-2277, or use MySSP (https://caps.ku.edu/my-ssp) to call or chat with professional counselors 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
