Free KU-K-State football tickets available to veterans participating in pre-game event
In honor of Veterans Day, a limited number of free tickets to the football game between the University of Kansas and Kansas State University will be available to people who have served in the military.
The game, scheduled for 11 a.m. Saturday, will be preceded by a “thank-you” event for veterans hosted by the Lawrence Veterans Day Parade Association and Kansas Athletics. The event is in lieu of the Lawrence Veterans Day Parade, which will not take place this year.
Veterans from across Douglas County and surrounding communities are invited to participate. At the event, veterans and Gold Star family members will form up in the stadium’s south end zone.
Hank Booth will be a special guest. A Vietnam-era veteran of the U.S. Army, Booth has been a radio broadcaster and is a former public address announcer at the KU stadium and at Allen Field House.
KU Athletics has provided a limited number of free tickets for veterans participating in the pre-game ceremony. A charter bus will be available at the Lied Center about 1 hour and 45 minutes before kickoff. Tickets will be issued at the Lied Center upon boarding the bus. Veterans not wishing to stay for the game will get a ride back to the Lied Center immediately following the pre-game ceremony.
To reserve a free ticket, call or text 785-576-3765 by Wednesday afternoon.
