The community is invited to learn more about the history and ecology of the local wetlands on Friday at the second annual Haskell Wetlands Day.

Haskell Wetlands Day starts at 10 a.m. Friday at Tecumseh Hall, 2445 Choctaw Ave. From then until 2 p.m., visitors can connect with organizations and institutions that protect and conserve the Wakarusa River Valley. There will also be two screenings of the mini-documentary “Land Back to the Future” at 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. The film is about efforts to preserve the wetlands and was produced by Brendan McInerney, a research fellow with the climate research project Rising Voices, Changing Coasts.

The events on Friday will close with a land tour from 2:30 to 4 p.m., which will begin at Tecumseh Hall and will be hosted by the Haskell Greenhouse.
