About two to three inches of rain is expected in Douglas County from March 12 to March 14.

Lawrence residents can expect wet conditions all weekend, with an expected 2 to 3 inches of rain falling Friday morning through Sunday afternoon.

A hazardous weather outlook is in effect because of the expected rainfall, but a flood watch is not scheduled for Lawrence, as it is for parts of east-central Kansas. Daniel Reese, a meteorologist with the National Weather Service in Topeka, said that because Lawrence has had pretty dry weather for the past couple of months, the rain will likely seep into the soil with ease. He said flooding was not expected but there might be some standing water.

Though the majority of the rain is expected from Friday morning through Sunday afternoon, a few additional showers could occur next week, Reese said.

Thursday is sunny with an expected high of 60 degrees. The highs throughout the weekend should hover in the 50s, with lows in the 40s. In addition to rain, thunderstorms are also possible throughout the weekend.
