Based on the winter weather coming to Lawrence starting Friday, Lawrence Transit announced cancellations for some of its ridership services over the weekend.

Lawrence Transit announced in a press release Thursday afternoon it would cancel its On Demand service after 8 p.m. Friday. Those services will be unavailable on Saturday and Sunday.

Routes 1 through 44 and its paratransit service are expected to run as scheduled on Friday; however, if weather conditions worsen, some of the services may be cancelled early.

On Saturday, all service will be canceled for Lawrence Transit. On Sunday, only the on demand service will be cancelled, while other services should be operational.

Lawrence Transit said regular service is planned to “resume as usual,” according to its release. It is possible that services could be delayed, especially in the early morning, if temperatures drop below the current forecast. The release noted “extremely low temperatures can cause operational issues with our diesel and electric fleets.”

Any additional updates would be provided through Lawrence Transit’s website, on its Facebook page and through its two apps: Lawrence Transit On Demand and Transit App.
