The community is invited to an event for sharing ideas that will help shape the future of North Lawrence.

The feedback from the event will contribute to the North Lawrence Comprehensive Corridor Study, an initiative analyzing land use, economic development, infrastructure and transportation improvements in the North Lawrence area. Check-in for the event will begin at 4 p.m. with the program happening from 4:15 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 17, in the Woodlawn Elementary School cafeteria, 508 Elm St.

The corridor study would also explore improvements at the Union Pacific underpass and at-grade railroad crossings in North Lawrence, options to add more multimodal transportation and make North Second Street safer, and even future bridge alignments over the Kansas River.

As the Journal-World reported, city commissioners approved an engineering services agreement in September of just under $400,000 with the Kansas City-based engineering company HNTB Corporation for the study.
