Lawrence Mayor Lisa Larsen will announce the next city manager during a special City Commission meeting Monday.

After a national search, the city has narrowed the candidates to two finalists: Susan Sherman, who is currently the assistant city manager for Olathe, and Craig Owens, city manager of Clayton, Mo. Both spoke and answered audience questions during a public meeting on April 7.

According to a memo in the special meeting’s short agenda, among compensation and benefits the selected city manager will receive are a base annual salary of $200,000, automobile allowance of $7,800 and reimbursement for moving expenses up to $30,000. He or she will receive 12.5 days of vacation and six days of sick leave upfront, then accrue up to five weeks of vacation per year. That agreement is pending approval of the City Commission.

The selected candidate must move to the city within six months, according to the memo. He or she will begin employment July 1.

The commission will meet at 2 p.m. Monday at City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St.
