While the Lawrence City Commission has an especially light agenda on tap this week, city leaders will consider making a development code change official that makes it easier to develop two detached dwelling units on the same lot.

Last week, commissioners approved a text amendment to the city’s Land Development Code that makes all residential zoning district types subject to the same standards for these units, which are structures not attached to other dwellings on the same parcel of land.

Since the City Commission already discussed and voted to approve the change last week, it’s now appearing on the consent agenda for final approval and adoption as a new city ordinance. Items included on the consent agenda are generally considered routine and can be approved together by one vote from commissioners without any discussion.

As of Monday morning, there aren’t any items currently listed on the meeting’s regular agenda, the portion of the meeting where commissioners usually take part in more comprehensive discussions and take action on individual topics.

The Lawrence City Commission will convene at 5:45 p.m. Tuesday at City Hall, 6 E. Sixth St.
