Lawrence High School’s choral department will present its annual “Showtime” variety show this week.

Shows are scheduled for Thursday through Saturday. Doors open for general admission seating at 7 p.m. each night. Save for a two-year pause during the coronavirus pandemic, “Showtime” has been produced every year since 1974.

Dwayne Dunn, Lawrence High’s director of choral activities, told the Journal-World this week that the school’s advanced vocal music classes — A Cappella Choir, Concert Choir and Bellissima Treble Choir — all perform during the show.

Additionally, junior and senior students can also perform in featured acts; students choose their own music, choreography and costuming, rehearse together and audition for the show.

“Sing a Song” from the soundtrack of the musical “Kinky Boots” is another tune Lawrence High School choir students will perform during this year’s Showtime variety show.

Tickets cost $10 and are available at Hy-Vee, 3504 Clinton Parkway, or at the Lawrence High finance office, 1901 Louisiana St. Tickets will also be sold at the door on show nights.
