In the wake of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration’s decision to expand eligibility for coronavirus vaccine booster doses to children ages 5 to 11 earlier this week, Lawrence-Douglas County Public Health announced Friday that it will host a pair of vaccine clinics for that age group this weekend.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention on Thursday recommended the booster dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech vaccine.

The Lawrence clinics will both take place Saturday on the first floor of the Community Health Building, 200 Maine St. One will take place from 9 a.m. to noon and the other from 2 to 5 p.m.

Those interested in registering can do so at ldchealth.org/getmyvaccine. For the earlier clinic, registrants can enter the code “LDCPH052122AM” and for the later clinic, the code “LDCPH052122PM.” Those who register should be at least five months removed from their vaccination date.

Questions about COVID-19 booster shots or vaccines can be addressed to the health department at (785) 843-3060 or email info@ldchealth.org.
