Kasold reopens after gas leak shut down traffic south of Sixth Street

Kasold Drive has reopened after a gas leak in the area forced its closure Friday afternoon south of Sixth Street. A construction crew struck a gas line at about 1:40 p.m. near Kasold and Ninth Court, Officer Derrick Smith of the Lawrence Police Department said. A man who falls on “the spectrum,” according to his attorney, was sentenced to 10 years in prison Friday for molesting a 5-year-old girl. Philip J. Foster, 19, of Eudora, appeared before Douglas County District Court Judge Paula Martin, who sentenced him to 122 months in prison.
