UPDATE: Police locate and arrest Lawrence man after three-day search

Cadence Elijah Nunez-Ruckman was arrested at the KU Boathouse in Burcham Park, 220 Indiana Ave., and booked into the Douglas County Jail late Saturday.
Nunez-Ruckman was wanted for not complying with pending cases related to an aggravated assault, according to a poster from the sheriff’s office. On Thursday, law enforcement spotted him near 14th and Connecticut streets, but he fled the scene causing nearby New York Elementary and Central Middle School to take security precautions, according to a release from the Lawrence Police Department. The police had urged residents to be on the lookout for Nunez-Ruckman but warned he should be considered armed and dangerous.

Law enforcement is searching for a Lawrence man in relation to a past case, but warns the public that he should be considered armed and dangerous.
The man, Cadence Elijah Nunez-Ruckman, 28, was spotted by police on Thursday riding a bicycle near 14th and Connecticut streets but he fled the scene causing nearby New York Elementary and Central Middle School to take security precautions, according to a release from the Lawrence Police Department.
Nunez-Ruckman was granted probation last year after a plea deal dismissed a gun charge in an assault at a laundromat.
While law enforcement is asking for the public’s help in locating Nunez-Ruckman, they also warn that he should be considered armed and dangerous, according to the release. Residents can call 911 or 785-843-8477 if they believe they have seen Nunez-Ruckman.
He is described as 5′ 6″, weighing 170 pounds with black hair and blue eyes. A photograph released by the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office shows that he has a small tattoo under one eye and another over his eyebrow.

According to court records, Nunez-Ruckman is also wanted for violating his probation. He was placed on probation in January for one felony count of possession of methamphetamine, one felony count of aggravated domestic battery, and one misdemeanor count of endangerment, as the Journal-World reported.
Nunez-Ruckman pleaded no contest to the charges as part of a plea agreement that dismissed two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and replaced them with one misdemeanor count of endangerment.
Nunez-Ruckman was involved in an incident around 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 10, 2023, where he was alleged to have threatened a with a handgun a family with a 4-year-old child at Lawrence Laundromat, 711 W. 23rd St., as the Journal-World reported.
