Monday’s most-popular stories on LJWorld.com and more severe weather possible

The U.S. National Weather Service placed Douglas County under a moderate risk for severe weather Tuesday, May 24, 2011.

Tragedy continues to unfold in Joplin, as the death toll from Sunday’s tornado is now at 117. I put together a short list of resources for those in our area who want to help. I’ll add to it if I hear of anything else.

Unfortunately, more severe weather is possible Tuesday. Douglas County is under a moderate risk for severe thunderstorms. The National Weather Service forecast predicts the worst storms are possible between 5 p.m. Tuesday and 2 a.m. Wednesday. The NWS placed parts of Kansas and Oklahoma under a high risk for severe weather. If you’re in an area with a severe weather risk, please pay close attention to any watches or warnings that come out.
