An Officer on patrols in the 900 block of Massachusetts Street reported witnessing a disturbance involving the use of weapons, shortly after 2:40 a.m.. The Officer did not say what the weapon was, as he requested a second unit to respond to his location. The incident seemed to be under control quickly, a total of four officers were added to the call. Two men were taken into police custody during the incident. One of the men faces a charge of Aggravated Assault and a one charge of Disorderly Conduct. The other man also faces a Disorderly Conduct charge, as well as a charge for Possession of a Suspected Fake ID. No injuries were reported in the incident.
Police in Lawrence also investigated two non-injury accidents this morning. The first was reported around 3:40 a.m., in the 1300 block of East 25th Street. The second was reported around 6:50 a.m., in the 600 block of Massachusetts Street.
None of this morning's activity was reported to have involved any serious injuries.
The Lawrence Journal-World published a story yesterday which was first reported in last Thursday's (August 9th) blog post involving gunshots fired inside a residence owned by a former Lawrence police chief. That story can be found here. The original blog post regarding the incident can be found here.
