They should not hire a consultant. Jez.. there should be a vetting process and the hire should be done with out squandering tax dollars on somebodies brother-in-law.

The city should replace the Chamber of Commerce and move all of economic development to city hall like so many other communities. For $200,000 tax dollars it would be a responsible decision. Plus a bit of transparency might surface which would be a worthwhile investment.
The real estate industry controls the Chamber of Commerce which is too narrow of focus not to mention serious conflicts of interest.
Move economic development to city hall = the better bang for the tax buck.
