Bill James, although not exactly singlehandedly responsible, played a huge part in the dawn of so many new statistics to measure the value of baseball players, which helped to change how rosters were built. Whether this is good or bad in the long run remains to be seen, but for his part I think Bill James has been an immensely valuable contributor to a game I love to watch. I hope he gets into the HOF one day, and I hope he tells everyone (as he told a crowd at KU a while back) how much his English major contributed to his success. Bill James, you are an excellent critical thinker, analyzer, and explainer.

What Parrothead said. I worked with Bill decades ago at a summer job at the Stokely beanery. He was a great guy then and he still is. Success & fame hasn't changed him. I wish the Royals would hire him away from the Red Sox, my second-most hated ballclub. Bill, you're a Royals fan: come home!

Nice, babboy, but the HOF isn't just for players, it's for those that have dramatic impact on the game. There's no doubt James belongs.

There are many non-players in the Hall of Fame. He had a significant impact on the way the game is played. Put him in.

The Bill James Calculator app is my constant companion during close KU basketball games. He's a treasure!

I'm not sure of the criteria for non-players but he should definitely be considered. He has changed the way baseball is analyzed.

He changed the game. His impact is certainly superior to some that are already in.

Only if Buck O'Neill gets in ahead of him.

As a rabid Red Sox fan (who is mourning their loss last night), I said YES!!!!!! We'd probably still be waiting on that World Series Championship if it weren't for the off-the-field contributions of Bill James.

Yes, indubitably yes. @Number_1_Grandma, your old-age wisdom appears to be teetering into dementia.
