The only people who should be answering "no" are the terminally ill and the boneheads buying into the conspiracy theories about vaccines causing autism. And for the latter group, that's OK: you will soon remove yourselves from the gene pool, and we will be collectively that much smarter!
Yeah but the gubmint won't be able to track us!
Why is that? Who are you to determine who can say no? I'm 55, have never had one, I never get sick, so why should I feed Big Pharma? And you might want to back off of the "bonehead" remarks. More than a few Mothers of children with autism aren't so sure. That's kind of a boneheaded statement to make.
The last time I missed work because of being sick was the first (and last) year I got a flu shot. I know they tell you that the flu shot will not make you sick unless you are already starting to come down with something and maybe I was. I do know that I felt fine when I had the shot and within 2 days I was sicker than I have been in 30+ years. Didn't take it again - didn't get a swine flu vaccine and was in Mexico when that first broke out - don't plan on taking one anytime in the forseable future. If someone wants to get a flu shot that's their business but don't bother saving me a place in line! In the last 30+ years of working - which included working in a Drs office with sick people all the time and customer service with lots of people - I have maybe missed 1 or 2 days of work due to illness.
I have what is called "an immune system."
I have had the flu twice in my life... both times it was earlier in the fall and flu shots weren't even available yet.
So true! A little hand-washing goes a long way. Isn't that usually the first thing they tell you to do to avoid the flu anyway?
Twice in my life I've had the flu, and both times were the only times I've ever got a flu shot...so no, I will not be getting one. It's my business, and how dare people judge me over a medical decision I make for myself....geez
I've gotten flu shots all my life and have gotten the flu once. It was about this time of year before the shots were available. It was bad stuff. I still could feel the weakness in my legs from it while pheasant hunting 2 months later.
Never have had a flu shot and it has zero to do with "conspiracy theories" - it's just completely unnecessary.
"it's just completely unnecessary."..
What facts do you use to justify that statement?
I was offered and received a 5yr pneumonia vacine at the first of the year.
Didn't know they had one.
Skipped last two years but will be getting flu shot this fall. Visit a person in Living Center w/ambulatory care very often, it was suggested by a doc I do that for me as well as the old one.
Too bad the miserable wretches dying in the streets in 1918 weren't "ironmen" who never got sick like many of the 2010 blowhards who frequent the Urinal World's website. I suspect they would have been quite grateful to have had access to a flu vaccine in advance, but that's just me.
My doctor said to wait until October to get it. Thank you, Lynn
LJW, your poll here is poorly designed, because you don't have an option for "I already got one."
I would have checked that one.
this fall's vax includes H1N1. apparently this one has been more properly developed and tested than the hysteria-vax H1N1 of last season. that one was too quickly rushed into use.
pneumovax has been around for many years. it is good to get and does last five years. I get it, I need it.
however I seem to remember some kinda problem with the pneumovax they were giving in 08-09.
what ever happened to the swine flu?? I wonder how much money was made on that scam?
Tell that to the people who died from it. Oh, wait ... they can't hear you!
